This Patient Check-In help topic provides instruction on how to check in patient appointments using Ambulatory Organizer.
When the clerk is on the Renal unit, they will check in the patient for their appointment. For times when there is NO clerk available, the Nurse checks in the patient.
Go to Ambulatory Organizer in PowerChart.
Select the Date and Clinic Resources.
Locate the Patient.
Click on Confirmed in the Status column.
Select Check In.
The Check In window opens.
Clinics can indicate where the patient is located within the site. Note BC Children’s Hospital (BCH) does not use the Tracking Shell. Therefore, for BCH staff, please skip steps 6-7.
Click the down arrow in the Tracking location field.
Select the appropriate Check In location (e.g., SPH HD WR).
WARNING: Ensure that you select the appropriate check in from the drop-down options. If the wrong selection is made your patient will display at the wrong location. |
Click OK located at the far bottom right corner of the window.
The Available Conversations window opens.
Select the appropriate conversation from the drop-down, such as Register Outpatient.
Click OK.
The External MPI search begins.
The Register Outpatient window opens.
Complete the required fields as applicable to complete the encounter.
Click Complete.
A Document Selection window opens with an option to print labels and Facesheet. Note it is defaulted to not print. If you choose to print, uncheck the box next to Do Not Print Documents and select the documents to be printed. In this example, we will choose not to print.
Click OK.
In Ambulatory Organizer, you can view that the patient is checked in. The Checked In status is displayed in the Status column next to the Patient’s name.||
